Privacy Policy

CamMatch ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our random video chat service at randomvideomatch.com.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

CamMatch does not require registration. You may use the service without providing any personal information. If you choose to report a user or contact us for support, we may collect the information you provide at that time (such as a description of the issue or an email address).

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit CamMatch, we automatically collect:

  • Log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring and aggregate analytics.
  • Session metadata: The fact that a connection was established, connection duration, and whether a session ended normally or via skip/report. This is used for platform health monitoring. The content of sessions is never collected.
  • Device information: Screen resolution and browser capabilities (used to optimize video quality).

2. Your Video Sessions

CamMatch uses peer-to-peer WebRTC technology. Your audio and video stream travels directly from your browser to your match's browser — it does not pass through our servers.

We do not:

  • Record, store, or archive any video or audio from sessions
  • Have the technical capability to intercept live sessions
  • Retain any record of who you matched with beyond connection duration metadata

On some networks, WebRTC connections may be relayed through a TURN server (a network relay) when direct P2P is blocked. In these cases, traffic passes through infrastructure we operate or contract with. Even in relay mode, sessions are encrypted in transit (DTLS-SRTP) and we do not retain relay content.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We use minimal cookies and browser local storage:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the service to function (session state, CSRF protection).
  • Analytics cookies: We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate platform usage (page views, session counts). These do not identify individual users.
  • Local storage: We may store your preferences (such as camera/microphone selection) in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent CamMatch from functioning correctly.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and maintain the CamMatch service
  • Monitor and improve platform performance and reliability
  • Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraudulent activity
  • Respond to user support requests and safety reports
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns (no individual profiling)

We do not use your information for targeted advertising. We do not sell user data.

5. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share limited information with:

  • Service providers: Infrastructure and hosting providers operating under data processing agreements that prohibit independent use of your data.
  • Law enforcement: When required by valid legal process (court order, subpoena). We will notify affected users when legally permitted to do so.
  • Safety organizations: In cases involving immediate risk of harm or child exploitation, we cooperate with relevant authorities and organizations including NCMEC.

6. Data Retention

We retain log data for up to 90 days for security and abuse prevention purposes. After 90 days, logs are deleted or anonymized. Session metadata (duration, connection events) may be retained in aggregate, anonymized form for longer periods for platform analytics.

If you contact us for support, we retain your communications for up to 2 years to help resolve ongoing issues and improve the service.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

  • Access information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities
  • Data portability (receiving your data in a machine-readable format)

Because CamMatch does not require registration, we hold very little personal information about individual users. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

CamMatch is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their access and delete associated data.

If you believe a minor is using CamMatch, please contact us immediately at [email protected].

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers
  • DTLS-SRTP encryption for all peer-to-peer media streams
  • Regular security reviews and penetration testing
  • Access controls limiting employee access to user data

No security system is impenetrable. In the event of a data breach affecting your privacy rights, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the incident, as required by applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice (such as a banner on the site).

Continued use of CamMatch after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
